At the beginning of every year, not school year, but every calendar year, each student has to fill out a FAFSA form. FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. If you do not fill this form out or update it every year, you will not eligible for Financial Aid; and we could all use a little help! I will say that this form is a pain to fill out, and it is time consuming and a little tedious. But, it is worth it in order to help pay for school.
Since financial aid procedures are different at each school, I can only tell you how it is at Barton. Go to www.barton.edu and click on Financial Aid/Scholarships. This website gives several great tips to remember while filling out financial aid forms. These tips include:
1. Remember to make copies of all forms that you submit.
2. Review any requests for additional information and then respond as quickly as possible if additional information is needed.
3. Use the estimator that is available on the Barton website.
On the Financial Aid/Scholarships page are several tabs that I highly encourage you to look at! These tabs include Scholarship Calculator, Tuition and Fees, Loans and Work Study, and several other extremely helpful websites that could help you understand how to pay for college!
There are a lot of scholarships that are available here at Barton, especially once you have declared your major. Just sit down for a few minutes and take a look at the scholarships offered. Applying never hurts!
Our Financial Aid office is also extremely helpful. If you have any questions, you can email them at firstname.lastname@example.org or give them a call (800-789-1189)! They take every question seriously and take the time to answer each question individually. Individual attention is something we take pride in here! Barton is also hosting FAFSA Day on February 19th, so go to the website and sign up!
